Michelle Prindle

Music from early childhood into the grades

Michelle Marinelli Prindle is a soprano with a Bachelor of Music degree in classical voice performance from The Hartt School, where she graduated summa cum laude. Her operatic performances include roles in Carmen, The Elixir of Love, The Magic Flute, and Falstaff.  In addition to sacred music performances, she has given concerts and lecture-recitals in Salzburg, Austria; Heidelberg, Germany; and Florence, Italy.  Michelle has taught private voice and piano lessons for fifteen years. Her students have been admitted to competitive voice and musical theater programs throughout the United States.

Michelle became familiar with the lectures of Rudolf Steiner while doing graduate studies in German language and literature of the Romantic Period at the University of Heidelberg in Germany in 2006.  Since then she has devoted her life to learning about Anthroposophy and Waldorf Education.  She has created a Waldorf-inspired home environment for her two young boys, filled with singing and the beautiful tones of Mood of the Fifth music played on the Kinderlyre and pentatonic flute. Michelle will graduate from the Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training program at The Alkion Center in May, 2015.  In 2015 she completed her student teaching practicum at The Hartsbrook School, a Waldorf School in Hadley, Mass., where she worked with a master kindergarten teacher for ten weeks.  Michelle has studied the Werbeck singing method, Mood of the Fifth music and the importance and application of music in the Waldorf curriculum with such experts in the field as Channa Seidenberg, Eleanor Winship and Eric Mueller.  She has participated in workshops on child development and the singing and touching games of Wilma Ellersiek at Sophia's Hearth Family Center in Keene, NH.  Michelle and her husband, composer, cellist and music educator Dan Prindle, founded Living Music in the Home in 2015 to provide homeschooling parents and Waldorf teachers with the training they need to bring music in a meaningful and accessible way into the Waldorf homeschool and classroom.
